An outdoor play a day keeps the crying away!

Do you know that outdoor play is essential in children’s learning and growth?

Playing outdoor is a form of exercise that promotes well-being and wholesome physical development. During this outdoor play, children will get to interact and also practice cooperative play!

“Oh no! you bump on me!”- outdoor play also means DRAMA… Children will take this opportunity to pretend play what they have observed in their surrounding or daily life.

“ Try to catch me if you can!”- friendship and learning are strengthen through joyful activities together.

 “ That was a good slide Chester!” – Children practice turn taking as they wait for their turn to slide.

 

After long hours in class, outdoor definitely helps children to burn their energy! Look at Jermaine’s happy face.

Wow! What a delicious art and craft!

 

This activity help young children develop their senses through exploration and discovery. Fine motor skills are further enhanced too. Fine motor refers to the movements we make with the small muscles of the hands. 

They also learn that their hands can assist in many other areas as their cognitive and social/emotional skills improve. The creative arts help to develop children’s senses. It is advisable to give them access to a wide range of materials to encourage their sense of touch just like having to do their art and craft using food ingredients. It's so beautiful to see children forming their wild animals through carving the fruits and slicing the chosen ingredients.

Animal Food Craft

Children learnt about wild animals, and had the opportunity to visit the Zoo to further enhance their learning.
Teacher flashed back their memories on the animals that they saw while at the zoo, by creating their own wild animal figurine using different type of food items. This include cheese, biscuits, raisins, and grapes.
Teacher demonstrated one example to children so that they will have an idea on how to go about creating theirs. Children learnt how to use the plastic knife to slice the food items, and how to assemble to cut or sliced food.
Children had fun with this activity as they shared their experience at the Zoo with their peers.

Let's be creative and allow our children to create their own food craft to encourage them to enjoy eating healthy food! Children take pride in their own work. Just like adults do. :) Have fun trying! 

Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere

Children had a chance with bubbles during their outdoor play. This activity prepares children for their spoken language. This is because, children learnt how to shape their mouth and how to blow into the bubble stick, in order to get the bubbles out. 

Children discovered that they need to blow gently into the stick in order for the bubbles to be in the air. Social skills involved when children took turns to have a chance with the bubble stick. When their peers blow the bubbles, the rest of the children tried to burst it. Children also learnt about shapes and sizes - big and small. They had fun with the bubbles!
