Maori Facial Painting

During our Passport Around the World, we explored New Zealand's culture and visited Maori's tribe. Children were shown videos on Haka tribe cultural dance, as well as their facial painting. As an extended activity, children had their face / hand painted.

They were all excited and looking forward to be painted! Though some of them preferred to be painted on their hand.
Apart from this, they tried green and golden kiwi as it is the fruit that represent New Zealand. They all could dance well to the tribal dance too! You may search from YouTube and dance along with them!

Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Fire Truck!

Hurry, hurry, drive the fire truck!
The children used paper plates to pretend to be holding the steering wheel of a fire engine.

Hurry, hurry, turn the corner! The children pretended to drive around the dowels.

Hurry, hurry, climb the ladder! The children used the dowels to pretend to climb the ladder.

Hurry, hurry, squirt the water! The children used the dowels to pretend as water hose.

The children 'squirted the water around!'

They were all brave and courageous firefighters! Do continue to have pretend play with them at home as it definitely helps in creative thinking!

Delicious Band-aid!

Look what's on my plate!

                                                         Let's count! 4 raspberries and 1 strawberry makes 5.

Hmmm... It tastes lol sweet.

These mashed berries look so red and juicy.

Chrishaun: It looks like blood.

Yee Ann: Ms. Cynthia, see I can cut half.

It's time to prepare to cut the cheese into square shapes.

Chloe is looking at the 'overflowed blood' on Ern Yu's band-aid.

Children couldn't wait to eat their end product.

Yeah, let's eat!
Yum, yum, yummy! It's so healthy and delicious.

Doughnut round and sweet!

 Doughnut making Day

Step 1
Scooping and Pouring the Dry Ingredients:
Plain flour, Wheat flour, Salt, Icing sugar, Baking Powder

                           Step 2
             Mixing the dry ingredients

Children are asked to observe what happens when it is mixed? The plain flour seemed to have covered all other ingredients.

                           Step 3
Putting in the wet ingredients; milk and egg.

                           Step 4
        Mixing the ingredients together.

While waiting for the doughnut to be baked, the children are to draw circles to represent the doughnut.

With more exposure to drawing using crayons that are thicker, it helps to reinforce and practice their fine motor skills - palmer grip. Their fingers will be stronger and at the same time, to learn how to draw a circle.

                          Step 5
Time to put healthy fruit topping and enjoy their wheat doughnut!

Look at how much they have enjoyed their wheat doughnut! You may purchased the doughnut maker and bake it at home with them too!
