Traditionally, dumplings (jiao zi) is one of the food eaten during Chinese New Year's Day. Dumplings symbolizes wealth because it is shaped like ancient silver and gold ingots. Therefore, in our preparation to welcome the year of horse, we made dumplings filled with delicious meat, spring onions and chinese celery!
Let's take a look at what the K1-s did!
The children scooped two spoons-full of chicken minced meat, added the vegetables and seasonings (light soy sauce, white pepper and sesame oil) into their bowl and mixed the filling.

Next, they divided the filling into two portions (to be made into two dumplings). They scooped the filling onto the middle of the dumpling skin and tapped some water on the edge of the skin. Some of the children invented their own ways of wrapping the dumplings!
Last but not least, we cook the dumplings! Tasty!
